About Mrs. PetersonI was born in Dothan, Alabama and moved to Texas when I was five. It was always my dream to be a teacher. I would come home from school and play school with my sister. After high school, I spent a year in Houston at The University of Houston before transferring to The University of Texas at Austin. I received my Bachelor of Science Degree in Applied Learning and Development from The University of Texas in Austin in 2009. This past school year, I completed my Master’s Degree in Curriculum and Instruction with a Mathematics focus from The University of Texas at Arlington. I am certified to teach early childhood through 4th grade, English as a second language, and I have my 30-hour training in gifted and talented. I have taught 4th, 3rd, and 2nd grade. This will be my 10th year teaching and my 1st year here at Great Oaks.
I have been married for 13 years to my high school sweetheart and we have two cats. I talk about my cats frequently. My husband went to school for video game design and gets to play video games all day at work. When I am not teaching or working on school activities I enjoy going to the movies at the Alamo Drafthouse, crocheting, working out, or catching up on my favorite television shows. I also love to watch football. My favorite teams are the Houston Texans and of course the Texas Longhorns. |
